Rabbi Shira Stutman is director of Community Engagement at Washington, DC’s historic and innovative Sixth & I synagogue. Her focus is to make Jewish meaning and build Jewish community. As the sole rabbi on staff, she strives to infuse Sixth & I's diverse programs with Jewish context and content. She supports a number of "boutique" communities, including workshops for those interested in joining the Jewish community. Rabbi Stutman graduated from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2007, where she was a Wexner Graduate Fellow. She is also an alumna of Columbia University and the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School. She was the founding rabbi of Kesher Shalom Congregation in Abington, PA. Shira is also receiving Jewish Women International’s 2014 “Women to Watch” award.
