Merle Kaplan is a breast cancer “previvor” became passionate about breast cancer awareness when she lost her mother, who was 48, to the disease. She is the only woman in her family who has survived celebrate her fiftieth birthday. A fundraiser and advocate, Merle believes that women should empower themselves to learn about their risks of breast and ovarian cancer and discuss family history with both the men and women in their families. She is a long-time donor to the Jewish Federation as a Lion of Judah.
