Joanne is an accomplished business development professional who spent more than 15 years managing USAID-funded projects in Africa, Haiti and Asia.
Senior Vice President, Global Planning Table, The Jewish Federations of North America
Joanne Moore leads JFNA’s Global Planning Department and manages the Global Planning Table (GPT), designed to serve as the central address for identifying and creatively solving the most important issues confronting the continental and global Jewish community. She also oversees the General Assembly, JFNA’s premier annual gathering of Federation leadership, as well as JFNA’s research and analysis area, which uses data to enable Federations to identify and develop best practices.
Joanne is an accomplished business development professional who spent more than 15 years managing USAID-funded projects in Africa, Haiti and Asia that have touched upon public health, natural resource management, biodiversity, agribusiness, famine early warning, and trade and economic growth. She was senior vice president for Africa and Haiti at Chemonics International in Washington, D.C., an international development firm that promotes meaningful change in developing countries. She has been an independent consultant to organizations including the Institute of Reproductive Health, and served as a social franchising technical advisor for Population Services International.
Joanne began her career as a health and nutrition volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps. She holds a B.A. in African and Afro-American Studies from Brandeis University and a M.Sc. in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
An alumna of JFNA’s National Young Leadership (NYL) Cabinet, she served as co-chair of NYL, of the national Washington 15 conference and of the Ben Gurion Society mission to Israel. She also co-chaired the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington’s Next Gen Division and the American Jewish World Service’s Global Circle, a young professionals organization in Washington, D.C. Joanne was also a board member for JFNA and the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
